Pilates Class Descriptions

Pilates balances the body, creating both strength and length. With a focus on stabilizing muscles, your joints will become better supported decreasing the chance of injury. We also work on those ‘mirror muscles’ – arms, bums and tummy - for a total body workout.

Our classes are taught on the Reformer offering a wide range of exercises, which allows a focus on full body strengthening and toning.  The reformer is great for the well-seasoned practitioner as well as the newbie trying Pilates for the first time.

We recommend coming 2 or more times a week to notice the benefits.  Our yoga classes are a great way to compliment the strength you build in Pilates with deep stretching.

Pilates sessions are designed to:
  • Strengthen back and abdominal muscles
  • Improve balance, posture and coordination
  • Increase flexibility
  • Restore Natural Posture
  • Improve athletic performance
  • Rehabilitate and prevent injury
  • Tone muscles
  • Elevate and energize the spirit

All new clients are required to complete a Pilates Principle Workshop before joining level 1 classes.

Pilates class descriptions

This workshop nicely balances theory with practice! It will set you up with the foundations and tools you need to ensure you are getting the most out of your Pilates practice. In this workshop we will cover the following topics and give you a taste of some of the exercises.

Five Foundations of Pilates – these are designed to ensure correct postural alignment and encourage safe and intelligent movement.

Equipment Set up - how to safely set up your equipment and introduce you to the many props and accessories you will be using in group classes.

Safety & Confidence - We want to make sure you have been introduced to the tools, language and foundations of Pilates to confidently and safely join group classes.

“Self confidence is the best outfit, rock it and own it!”

You have the foundations, you feel safe and confident with the equipment – now it’s time to apply those foundations to movement in a group class. This class focuses on development, technique, core and periphery strength - all while layering in balance and coordination. Modifications are always available and the best thing about Pilates, the better you get at it, the harder the basics become. This class is suitable for everyone who has completed the Pilates Principles Workshop!

Are you ready to amp it up? Level Two classes will further challenge your strength, endurance, coordination and balance. This class will move quicker than L1, we will assume you are familiar with the Reformer and L1 exercises and offer more advanced modifications. A minimum of 8 Level One classes must be completed before joining L2. This is for your safety and to ensure the class can flow well!

A Reformer L1 class with a taste of cardio tramp. This class is a great way to get introduced to the cardio tramp before joining Level Two classes.

A Reformer L2 class with an added cardio element! Strength, endurance, balance and coordination will be challenged - interspersed with jump intervals on the cardio tramp. A great all round workout plus the tramp will bring out your inner child!
