Sunrise Flow

This class is taught by:

Lauren Hutchings

My journey on this path began when I attended an intro yoga class at a studio here in Calgary. I felt at ease as my breath held space for me to connect with my body in present time. It was an amazing feeling and sparked the right amount of curiosity which ignited my passionate career path today. In 2012, I went on to complete a 200 hour teacher training at Yoga Passage, followed by a Yoga Nidra certification with Tanis Fishman. I later completed my level 3 of Critical Alignment Yoga and Therapy training with Gert Van Leeuwan and spent 2 months living in a Satyananda Ashram in New Zealand. My passion lies in yoga therapy, trauma recovery and psychosomatic healing. Today, I focus my teaching on Thrive yoga for Cancer survivors, yoga for a mental health unit at the FMC and Therapeutic Yoga classes that integrates practices of Critical Alignment Therapy. The practice of yoga and mindfulness, be it in movement or in stillness, has reshaped my life and will continue to be a life long self-study. I believe that we can connect to our purest potential and the core of who we are through the practice of disconnected awareness; where we discover the ability to quietly tune back into the wisdom of our hearts time and time again. This practice has changed my life and I am so blessed to have the opportunity to pay this beautiful gift forward.

Melanie Emlyn

Melanie is a Yoga Teacher, Certified In Holistic Nutritionist & Reiki Healer. Growing up as an athlete, she's always had a passion for health & wellness. After becoming a Holistic Nutritionist in 2013 she began to understand that being healthy wasn't just about what you put in your body, it was just as important to balance the emotional, spiritual and energetic aspects of yourself. Up until then, she had pursued yoga as injury-prevention and fitness but quickly began to see positive shifts and it brought her to a place of deeper connection with herself and the world around her.

Her yoga classes focus on breath work, mind-body connection, and healing from the inside out– all complimented by contemporary music to form an inviting atmosphere. She inspires students and clients to connect to their authentic selves and embrace all of their unique abilities.

Kate W Mak

Hi, I'm Kate and I am a self proclaimed fun enthusiast that is always seeking to learn, teach, travel and eat. Teaching yoga and getting onto the mat myself is one of the most beautiful and satisfying journeys I have been on and continue to walk along. It is my humble hope that I can encourage and inspire while sharing the pieces of me with every class I teach. It is important for me to approach and teach from a place of playfulness while going deeper into the flow and poetry of the practice. In my classes, I strive to blend my background in science with the steeped wisdom that comes from yoga teachings while keeping it light hearted and fun. It is my intention to awaken within each of us, our ability to act as positive instruments in this world for change. This is powered by love, joy and laughter! It will be my honour to share this experience with you as a teacher, fellow student and friend! I can't wait to meet you and to see you on the mat!

Stacey Irvine

Teaching is a privilege for me, it is a gift that nurtures more sacred and genuine connectedness on an off my mat for myself, while providing the space to meet like minded people in this journey of life. It is with great pleasure I simply hold a space so you may learn more about your essence. Buddha said: “The mind is everything. What you think is what you become.” My wish is that we rise above insecurities and limitations and truly see the light within each of us as we navigate transformation and refine our higher selves. Community, movement and authenticity light me up in a big way- See you on your mat!

I believe life is all about little, wonderful details…. whether by which, I am transforming a *house* into a *home* or facilitating the opening of every corner of one’s heart & mind to encourage love, strength & space… I am fortunate enough to have crazy passion that encompasses the tangible beauty of design details & the untouchable, raw details that unfold when your feet hit your yoga mat. I have been an interior designer for the last 13 years, my career taking me from YYC to Over Seas & I fell in love with the balance yoga gave me, through the demands of my career. I completed my first Ashtanga teacher training over 8 years ago in Southern California & began teaching shortly after, wanting to spread the love!! I have had the opportunity to participate in continued education & intensives since my initial training with some amazing mentors; David Swenson, Tim Miller, Seane Corn…and not to mention, the lessons learned from hours on the mat with some incredible students. (aka the real-time teachers ;) Despite design being my first love, I found a connection in yoga that is incomparable. Guiding people to uncover their own inner teachers, being a building block to a community of strong, sweaty bodies, exceeding expectations, pushing limits, motivating & inspiring each other…all wonderful little details created on the 4 corners of a yoga mat. What’s not to love??
Start your day with awareness, movement, and breath with this vinyasa based practice. This class will get your heart pumping, while working with your body post sleep. An energetic practice that blends sweat, strength and flexibility in a class that thoroughly tones the body and disciplines the mind. Everyone welcome.
“There’s something extra special about these early morning classes because everybody in the room took the extra effort to set the alarm and set off while most of the city is still sleeping. It’s a warm, inviting kind of energy and I use that to gently wake the deepest parts of ourselves before firing it up to set you for the rest of the day...”
Kate W. Mak

“A slow, sacred, rhythmic start to the day. Focus is on alignment and breath and deep, intimate self love.” Jamie Cameron

“I believe in the power of intention, ritual and following the rhythms of mother nature. Sunrise yoga brings me closer to each of these practices at the same time...” Stacey Irvine
